AT JOINER ARCHITECTURE OUR MISSION IS TO DELIVER EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN THROUGH SPATIAL EFFICIENCY, FLEXIBILITY, CLEAR ORGANIZATION, AND THOUGHTFUL COMPOSITION OF FORM.

EVERY CRAFTED MOMENT AND EXPERIENCE MUST HAVE A UNIQUE PERSONALITY, WHILE ALSO SERVING AS A REFINED EXPRESSION OF THE CORE DESIGN CONCEPT, REFLECTING THEME AND SCRIPT.

WE ENDEAVOR TO PROVIDE DESIGNS ABUNDANT IN NATURAL DAYLIGHT AND CROSS VENTILATION, CLEAR AND INTENTIONAL CIRCULATION AND WAYFINDING, AND INTERCONNECTIONS BETWEEN A VARIETY OF SPACES AND DESTINATIONS, TO ENHANCE THE USER’S EXPERIENCE. WHERE POSSIBLE, AMBIGUITY BETWEEN INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SPACES SHOULD DISSOLVE THE PERCEIVED BOUNDARIES OF THE BUILDING ENVELOPE, DRAWING OCCUPANTS INTO THE SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE.

WE BELIEVE OUR OBJECTIVE MUST ALWAYS BE TO PURSUE SMART DESIGN STRATEGIES THAT WILL YIELD EFFICIENCY OF CONSTRUCTION, WITHOUT COMPROMISING INTEGRITY.

CHRISTOPHER G. JOINER, BSIT

Director of Technology + Project Coordinator

Christopher Garrett Joiner has been with Joiner Architecture for over ten years, starting in 2013 while he was a student at University of South Florida. His interests toward computers, gaming, and networking in his high school years led him to study computer engineering and information technology at USF. Chris G is a native Florida resident born in Tampa, and has experienced living in various cities on both east and west coasts of Florida prior to his return to Tampa in 2012. He graduated from USF with a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology in 2017.

Beginning as an entry-level 3D modeler in 2013, Chris G now handles all Joiner Architecture 3D modeling and visualization, including photorealistic rendered images and animations. He is also involved with project coordination, office management, and various administrative responsibilities.

As an avid hobbyist musician, he loves to create music with his collection of guitars, synthesizers, and drum machines at home in his leisure time. Occasionally he’ll find time to game on the PCs he’s built himself, or venture with his dad to Florida’s east coast for a surf trip. Sometimes you can catch him at a local music venue appreciating the latest psychedelic indie rock talent!

ADAM KRANTZ, AIA

Senior Project Architect

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Adam attended the University of Miami School of Architecture, and received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1989. After graduation, he remained in Miami to apprentice with several local architecture firms. In 1996 he was awarded his license in the State of Florida and formed the partnership firm of Hochstim Krantz Architects. The achievements of that studio included numerous residential, commercial, religious, institutional, industrial, medical office and health care, and educational projects across South Florida. While in practice in Miami, Adam also provided QC review services to other architecture and engineering firms, and performed forensic investigations, expert witness reports, and court testimony in civil cases involving premises liability, life-safety, and accessibility.

Adam has a passion for teaching, and in 2007 he joined the faculty of his alma mater at the University of Miami School of Architecture, conducting courses in design, construction documents, building code compliance, and the comprehensive undergraduate capstone “Integrated Design Studio.” He created the syllabus and curriculum for a cross-disciplinary studio, “Introduction to Architectural Design for Non-Architecture Major,” in which students of any university major and interest were welcomed to attend lectures on the topics of history, art, culture, and technology, and then invited to incorporate these concepts into their own architectural projects using computer modeling software.

In the summer of 2010 Adam co-conducted a design studio in collaboration with the Kausay Wasi Medical Center in the Village of Qoya, near Cuzco. The clinic organizes campaigns of doctors from the United States to offer voluntary medical services to the indigenous population of the Inca Valley. Adam traveled to Peru with students to propose designs for the expansion of the existing clinic campus in Qoya.

These combined influences of travel and teaching have had a profound and lasting effect on Adam’s approach to the profession. Architecture is not merely the placement of forms in the landscape, nor the carving out of empty volumes, nor the surface application of colors and textures and ornament. Architecture transcends the basic human need for utility and shelter; it is the crafting of experiences and memories, intended to inspire, impress, comfort, and evoke.

Eventually, Adam and his wife Norma, expecting the imminent arrival of their baby daughter Natalia Grace, decided to leave Miami and relocated to Adam’s hometown of Tampa to be closer to extended family. Adam came aboard at the firm of Joiner Architecture in 2017 where he is currently Senior Project Architect.

STEPHANIE DETORE, BAID

Director of Interior Design

As Director of Interior Design, Stephanie has been able to cultivate and lead the interior design department of Joiner Architecture. Being part of this firm since 2015, Stephanie has enjoyed watching this portion of Joiner Architecture grow in the recent years. Loving to create the feeling of warmth in a space and the sense of belonging, Stephanie strives to evoke the emotions a well-designed space can make you feel.  She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and has over 20 years design experience in the Tampa Bay area. She has had the privilege of working with some of the top design professionals in this area and brings to the table a multitude of experience from all different avenues of interior design, including luxury residential, social clubhouse facilities, and hospitality spaces. Carrying with her on each project the importance of drafting beautifully detailed drawings to ensure idea’s become reality.

Outside of design, Stephanie has twin daughters, who she adores watching grow into the young women they are quickly becoming. Family and traditions resonate strong with Stephanie, which circles back to her desire of creating a sense of belonging within interior spaces. Stephanie has had the opportunity to travel abroad extensively throughout her life. Italy, France, Germany, and Australia to name a few, gathering inspiration from each destination has shaped the designer she is today. She looks forward to future endeavors at Joiner Architecture and all the exciting designs that are yet to come!

CHLOE RICHARDS, BA.IA+D

Interior Designer + Project Manager

As a 2021 graduate from Florida State University’s Interior Architecture + Design program, Chloe joined the JA team eager to learn more about the technical aspects of design. Her addition to the firm has helped grow the Interior Design department at Joiner Architecture while still challenging herself to learn about the architecture industry and construction process. While at FSU, Chloe had the opportunity to study abroad to London, England for 4 weeks to study the history of interiors and experience monumental architecture and design. She has a great appreciation for history and hopes to visit London again soon.

Chloe is also passionate about how nature and design come together as one. Utilizing natural light, biophilic design, natural materials and sustainable solutions are a few areas that she hopes to practice and become more knowledgeable about while growing in her design career. She hopes to influence users through these thoughtful design decisions and enhance the connection between the natural world and modern design.

Outside of the office Chloe enjoys many hobbies and activities including traveling, being adventurous outdoors, and spending quality time with friends and family. Since moving to the area, she has quickly fell in love with the Tampa + St. Pete culture. She loves to support the local major sports teams, try new restaurants and discover newly developed areas, find new thrift stores and plant nurseries, and explore the local beaches. She is recently engaged and has a dog, Penelope, and a cat, Mia.
